A south Essex primary school has joined Tenacitas Trust, marking the beginning of a new chapter for pupils and staff.

Eastwood Primary School, in Rayleigh Road, has officially joined the trust following 18 months of constructive partnership work.

Throughout this period, the school and the trust identified shared ambitions, strengthened opportunities for pupils, and built a clear sense of how they could collaborate effectively.

This process provided valuable learning experiences for both the school and the trust, with the strong due diligence proving very beneficial.

Eastwood Primary School is currently rated "good" overall by Ofsted, following its most recent inspection in 2023.

Scott Sterling, CEO of Tenacitas Trust, said: "We are thrilled to welcome Eastwood Primary School and Nursery into Tenacitas Trust.

"Their decision to join us is a real endorsement of the values and approach we live by.

"Eastwood Primary shares our commitment to nurturing potential, uniting community, empowering success, and championing tenacity, and we look forward to building on the school’s many strengths."

For Tenacitas Trust, the addition of Eastwood Primary School and Nursery represents another important step in its journey.

It also comes just weeks after Chalkwell Hall Junior School, on London Road, also teaming up with the trust.

There are also two other south Essex schools under the trust: The Eastwood Academy, and Bournemouth Park Academy.

Rebecca Perman, headteacher at Eastwood Primary School, added: "Eastwood Primary School and Nursery has been steadfast and strong as a stand-alone school for many years, but with the rebirth of Tenacitas Trust we saw a great opportunity to collaborate and shape an exciting future together.

"What resonated most with us was the trust’s commitment to celebrating and empowering each school’s unique identity."

The Tenacitas Trust has developed a strong, forward-looking model of school improvement, bringing schools together in a spirit of collaboration whilst "celebrating the distinct character of each community".

Both newly-joined schools are already working collaboratively, identifying areas for improvement across the trust.
